[Pro] "Severe" Mobile Usability Issues

I got this lovely message today in my Google Webmaster Tools: “Google systems have tested 313 pages from your site and found that 100% of them have critical mobile usability errors. The errors on these 313 pages severely affect how mobile users are able to experience your website. These pages will not be seen as mobile-friendly by Google Search, and will therefore be displayed and ranked appropriately for smartphone users.” Yikes!

Google offers a very helpful pageful of recommendations on mobile usability at Mobile Usability report - Search Console Help

At age 71 and not in the peak of health, I find the prospect of fixing all this daunting, to say the least.

It all depends on how important Google ranking is to you and your site.

If you rely on Google to drive traffic to your site to earn you money then it is important and you can use FW7 to help you make your site responsive - one page at a time if necessary.

If not then you can take it with a pinch of salt.

Hi,

I use Freeway Pro 5.6.5. and have an ecommerce site which relies on Google traffic. At the moment I am ranked quite nicely for the key items I sell. I have stuck with Freeway due to the results I have always achieved using it.
However, getting the email this morning stating 99% of my pages are not response and their rank will be adjusted accordingly is alarming.

I purchased 6.1.2 upon its release but have never used it as I was unable to load the 5.6.5 file and continue where I had left off. To use 6.1.2 I would have to rebuild the web site pretty much from scratch.

I’m guessing that if I upgrade to FW7 I’ll also have to start from scratch. I’m willing to do this but before I start this mammoth task would like to be fully confident that this will provide a full solution to the issue.
I have approximately 90 key products of which many of them have up to 12 variants. I was about to start work on adding more products but will have to put this on the back burner until I resolve this issue.
I have previously resisted temptation to use an e-commerce solution but because my ranking is presently so good using freeway and I have full control over everything in Freeway I wanted to stick by it.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated as I need to decide whether to rebuild using FW7 or find a shopping cart e-commerce site.

Can share some experience of e-commerce using freeway or alternatively suggest a better shopping cart option that can offer great flexibility and control.

Many thanks in advance.
Neil

David, the website is nonprofit, so income is not an issue. But I do like your suggestion that I could simply use FW7 and rebuild it one page at a time. Thanks. I’ll weigh that over. That might fit my slower ‘senior’ pace right now.

Bear in mind that if your existing site uses Masters then if you get the Masters done the rest will follow pretty quickly.

Alternatively look at your site and see how it can be served by having Master pages and work from there.
