[Pro] Showcase and Dropshadows

I just started working with Showcase after previously using JAlbum to create slide shows. After some experimentation I was able to figure out Showcase without much trouble except for one detail.

At one point after making some changes in Showcase all of the thumbnails vanished from the Freeway document. They didn’t show up in Page or Preview mode and they weren’t visible in Safari after I published the page. This happened after I added captions to the images. The captions appeared and the large images and slide show worked normally, but the thumbnails were all blank.

At first I thought the problem was in the captions but after hours of tinkering I discovered that the problem was caused when I added drop shadows to the thumbnails. Unchecking the drop shadows checkbox in Showcase restored the thumbnails.

Is this a bug in Showcase? I searched the forum looking for other references to drop shadows in Showcase and saw none. Either no one else is using that feature or I’m the only one with this problem.

Hi John,

I’m using Showcase with shadows without any problems. What version of Freeway are you using? Can you post a link to the page?

I’m using the latest versions - FW 5.6.0 and Showcase 1.0.2.

Here is the dropshadowless photo page;

Hi John,

Were is what I would do to troubleshoot:

  1. Make the drop shadows in showcase and save under a different name - i.e. test.
  2. Export test file to freeway.
  3. In Freeway, duplicate the your existing showcase page, then using the showcase action, link to the test showcase file.
  4. While all the action’s settings should be identical between the two pages, you should ensure that both settings are identical.
  5. Upload and compare any differences.
  6. If the drop shadows are still not showing, delete any other actions/html mark-ups from the page and try again.

Also, I noticed in your link, the thumbnails had black pics at each of the corners, while the full size photos did not have any. How were the pics added to the thumbnails?

“Also, I noticed in your link, the thumbnails had black pics at each of the corners, while the full size photos did not have any. How were the pics added to the thumbnails?”

I just dragged and dropped the photos into Showcase. I added 5px rounded corners and the black corner tips appeared. Perhaps when the corner is rounded, the dark gray default Showcase background shows behind the photos. At this time the check marks for page and cell backgrounds are both unchecked which I assumed meant there would be no background. I’ll try to change the background color in showcase.

I’ll try your test suggestions later today.
