The new showcase application looks absolutely wonderful. The one thing I’m concerned about is file size.
I did a Gallery test with 5 images with the following settings: thumbnails 50px, large images 700px, no captions, large image output jpeg at 80%.
After publishing I found the thumbnails to be pngs instead of jpegs, all with an average file size of about 120kb and the large images to be 390kb on average. Would I have generated the same files as regular Freeway jpegs at quality setting 90%, the thumbnails would only be 4kb, and the large images about 100kb.
Can anyone tell me why this is and what I can do about it?
Thanks.
These are very different to the results we were getting in testing (and the results I just got a second ago). It’s possible that there’s something in your source images that’s causing this, could you send us one or two of them please? Please send them to support(a)softpress.com
Many thanks,
Joe
