I’ve noticed that Showcase changes images filenames to ‘galleryxxx_thumb.png and galleryxxx.jpg’. I was wondering if there’s a way to have it use the original image filenames instead? The filenames I have chosen for my images are such that I hope it has a positive effect on how search engines index and rank my site.
This was done to prevent name clashes on output. I’ll log an enhancement request for your suggestion though.
Thans for the feedback,
Joe

I’ve picked up this thread as I am working on the SEO of images on one of my websites.
I have used Showcase to produce the image galleries, which is an excellent action. However, as has been mentioned, it renames the image filenames, which removes the potential of optimising the images for Google image search. As a result, for this particular website (Flood Control International) I will need to abandon Showcase and use a method of image display that is cruder, but SEO friendly.
May I therefore iterate a “wish” that the amazing people at Softpress might consider a way to maintain original filenames of gallery images? Easy to ask, I know!
As ever, I would like to thank this excellent forum and its problem-solvers.
