[Pro] site not showing for some

Is there any reason some viewers of this site are getting error messages? I have checked it on three different browsers but my wife has received an email from a friend saying she was only getting an error message; she uses chrome as do I and I have had no problems with loading. Sorry for such a novice question, first time website builder.

Mac Pro 10.10.2 FW7.2

Thanks,
Larry

This prompt shows up:

  1. That’s an error.

The requested URL / was not found on this server. That’s all we know

Hi Larry,
This looks like a DNS (Domain Name Server) issue as the www and non-www sites don’t point to the same site. If you try http://plumsandhoney.com you should get the site but clicking on http://www.plumsandhoney.com will just get you a 404 error. This error is odd in itself as it is a Google 404 error rather than one I’d expect to see from your server. Is the site or domain hosted on a Google server?

What you need to do is have a chat with your DNS provider who should be able to tell you how to create a CNAME record that will point the www site to the same server as the non-www address.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Larry,
I don’t know if you’ve changed anything but it looks like the issue has been resolved as both the www and non-www sites now load as expected. If you’ve not changed anything check with GoDaddy and see if they had any DNS/server issues that could have caused this hiccup.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Tim,

I did make changes to the came records, but I would say that godaddy is a
mess it took me a month to get email right and I was going to go through
them to fix this but their support was down or over loaded. I wish I had
never heard of them but I’m in a long term contract (my mistake) before I
ever thought about web sites.

I’m a semi-retired photojournalist and never had the time to think about web
sites but my wife wanted to open a small shop and has an etsy store but they
are taking so much of the profit that she wants to start her own web shop
and was trying to build it with their site builder and was on the phone for
hours a day. I felt so bad for her that I download freeway express and
started building her site the way she wanted it to be with hopes of leaving
etsy and amazon because they are making more that her. Sometime in the near
future.

And as soon as I have her up and running I will give a try at building my
own photography archives. It’s learning curve but with freeway talk it has
been a great help from people like you and everyone who tries to help a
novice like me. I have good knowledge of mac, photoshop, finalcut but web
building is all new but I find it just as rewarding even though I have a
long way to go…

Thanks for the update! I guess I know a little more than I thought?

Thanks,
Larry

Battle on Larry. We’ve all been in your shoes and have struggled with one thing or another while trying to learn new things. If you get stuck come back and ask another question as I’m sure there will be people here to help.

Tim.

Tim,

Let me try this one on you, when my wife post her site address on facebook
it puts up a random picture from her home page. I would like it to show her
banner all the time at the top of the page is there a way to do that?

Thanks,

Larry
