[Pro] sitemaps

I’m still trying to get my head around the site mapper action & associated site mapper file location actions.

It seems like I’ve applied them correctly to my page. However when I go into “submit site map,” I’ve never once gotten all four search engines to go through. At the moment, bing and google say they’ve gone through immediately and ask and yahoo seem to be in a forever loop of failure.

I also have a separate problem. When I go to google webmaster tools, it has never once said to me that the site map was properly submitted, so I end up doing it manually through their system. That usually works, but now I’m getting this error message and I don’t know what to do with it: “This url is not allowed for a Sitemap at this location.” This particular site is hosted w/ godaddy and that might have something to do with the problem.

Are these limitations part of the site mapper action? Am I doing something wrong? I’m on FW 5.6.4 btw…

There is a newer version of the Site Mapper Action to account for the fact that Yahoo! have gotten out of the search engine business – they outsource all of that to Bing now.

Oh, well that should be the latest.

Does it still show Yahoo! as an option?

Okay. Here come the dumb questions that seem to always follow your posts, Walter!.. I’m following the directions on this article: http://www.softpress.com/kb/questions/397/Site+Mapper+Actions+suite

I’ve checked actionsforge and the above article, and I don’t see a link for the updated action anywhere. Can you help out the ignorant? (me!)

BTW, the actions menu says I have version 1.5.1. Will this update fix whatever is happening on google’s end saying I haven’t uploaded the sitemap? Or does it simply not update to yahoo any more?

Thanks a lot!

Yes Yahoo is still an option.

Huh. I thought that had been removed a while ago.

My mistake. Thought there was an update to this Action, but apparently I am wrong.

I see an option for Yahoo! URL List in the Action, but not Yahoo! as a submission target – only Bing and Google. Looking at version 1.5.2 in Freeway 6. That’s the latest I have seen.

I have version 1.5.1. Apparently, there is a 1.5.2. Where can I get this update? And, will it solve the problems I’m having? Has anyone else experienced these issues and/or found a work around?

Hi Doty,

1.5.2 is in the latest version of 5.5. What version of Freeway are you using?

I just saw you listed the version you’re using in your original post (5.6.4). You need to update to the latest version of Freeway 5.5 (or upgrade to 6) to get the latest version of the Sitemapper Action:
