I don’t know if anyone has any ideas here. I keep getting the dreaded “Sorry, it was not possible to load your new configuration: It was not possible to connect to your webserver at” message. This has been going on for 4 days now. I have made sure the malsettings.cfg file is there and named just that. I have cancelled a Mal’s account and started over. Checked the webserver address is identical in Freeway and Mal’s. I created a new page with a buy button deleting the original button, so as to make certain the site uploaded. I checked the last modified times and they had all been uploaded. I contacted my host (UK2.net) to see if there were any restrictions in place for shops other than their own solution. I got another secret hash key ( all legal ) And applied it after turning off then on the link verification . Now I am totally stumped. So does any of you clever folk have any idea of what I can try now
Thanks Davy Larkins

Have you triple checked this? as this is often the source of the problem - a stray space/apostrophe etc. Type it out in a plain text editor before pasting into the FW action settings.
Have you tried the section in Mal’s Cart Setup/Cart Settings - way down the bottom right under Advanced Settings down to the Freeway Settings section - check that the path is correct ie pointing at the folder/subfolder that has the E-shop settings applied to it.
Ohh thanks Delta Dave
I have checked it like 20 times, but I will try the pasting into a text editor to err… I don’t know what the word or checking the 21st would be… And when you refer to ‘Freeway settings’ do you mean under the link ‘link verification’ I don’t have anything called Freeway Settings!
Thankyou so much for your input David
Davy

No - I mean your account in the Mals website

Hey David thank you for the swift reply. SO I went to Mal’s Cart settings
Orders/Cart Account details
Website URL (include http://) http://www.katrinazgowns.co.uk
I noticed that in Freeway upload there is a forward slash right at the end of the address but not in Mal’s. Neither will let me change that. Dunno if that would make any difference
I cannae find anywheres to put in the server address…
awavecou/public_html/katrinazgowns.co.uk
any clues here?
Cheers
Davy

Not sure which part you are referring to here.
You should be in Mal’s Cart Setup/Cart Settings
And then way down the bottom right under Advanced Settings down to the Freeway Settings section - check that the path is correct ie pointing at the folder/subfolder that has the E-shop settings applied to it.
In FW your upload dialogue should look something like this
ohh this is too weird David I dont have that link! And now I feel doubly stupid because I dont know how to post a screen grab. I did one earlier to show you
Hmmm - having looked a bit closer at your site I see that katrinazgowns is hosted in a frameset at http://awave.co.uk/. This may well be your problem with Mal’s.
Is this your intended permanent hosting place for this site - or a stop gap.
Morning…
Yes this is the permanent resting place of the site. I still can’t see the freeway settings. I just started a new account with Mal’s and they are not there… Is your screen grab current as I noticed in the Freeway5 reference 2010 that there is no Freeway settings link in their screengrabs of Mal’s store
Thanks again David for your assistance.
Davy
I think that you will have to host the site differently so that it is not nested in a frameset unless there is another way of getting Mals to ‘find’ the config settings.
All my sites are on uk2.net But I just set up the katrinazgowns as regular pages. I didn’t use frames. I am perplexed that I cant get the freeway settings. I felt there was something missing when I was going through the settings in Mal’s and I was wondering how it would access the site. Obviously the missing part of a puzzle.
Oh ok David thanks. If I move to another host will I not have problems with the domain name being moved etc. And do you happen to recommend any good hosting sites?

Thanks David I check that out. I have contacted uk2 support about the dilemma and hope they can figure out if they can move my files so it’s seen.( have have already paid for some of their services. gahhhgh ) if not I guess it’s over to Mr Owen!
Blooming Heck a lot of Davids around here… Mr Owen Thanks for your speedy reply. I was wondering what I would need to do to move my site to you and how much it would cost. It will be a small shop, selling dance clothes, presumably using Mal’s if I can get my settings recognised. I can’t imagine there will be a huge amount of trade and probably just one forwarded email. Let me know what you think please
Thanks

If you don’t need lots of bandwidth then a MICRO-HOST would be OK. If you want to experience all the bells a whistles and explore all the scripts available (including a few new ones!) then a PRO-HOST would be more suitable.
