[Pro] Source Code Snooper and CMS

I have a website that will contain a cms in it. For several reasons we choose Pulse for it, and not my beloved Webyep. (darn)
My question is, since i have to put the pulse code into the pages, is the Source Code Snooper action, the best action to handle this? ( putting the Pulse code in the files?)
because i am affraid of loosing content whenever i change anything.
i never used the Source Code Snooper action, but reading about it, made it seem so easy i thought it better to ask befor trying and loosing grip…
Thanks for any advise!

Create a div (HTML box) the desired size of your PluseCMS text block ~ click in it > insert HTML markup item > paste the PulseCMS code into it > publish

Hi Eugenie,
I would suggest you don’t use the Action. Although it will do exactly what you want using it will lock you out from Freeway’s visual layout tools if you later want to edit or update the pages.
Look at where you want to add the code and use Freeway’s own markup items to insert the PHP include codes;
Insert > Markup Item… and then paste the Pulse include code in the box.
You will also need to make sure that your page extensions are set to .php or use this handy trick and keep your.html extensions;

Regards,
Tim.

I know I use Crowbar religiously for my ExpressionEngine set up.

Off hand, how do you like Pulse? Is it worth looking into and maybe doing some ScreenCasts on?

I love it… it is simple ( you know what a idiot i can be!) and i understand it! ( ok, i had a little help from David McCalum) I can even explain it to a customer.

I have put the full editor in it, and a dutch language.

Until now, i made my pulse websites without FW, and put the codes in it by hand. i just use the basic pulse, because my customers never seem to want to use the pro, but a pro licence is only 19$ so that is nice to.

I can give you acces to a site, so you can look into it Dan, give me a shout and i will give you the details. You have my email etc…

That goes for me too:-o

But its also reasonably simple and straightforward for clients to understand and I think in a lot of cases that tends to get overlooked with cms.

The developer is very proactive with improvements, taking on board what people suggest (the Captcha being a good example) and I think that say’s a lot. At the end of the day its a simple (relatively speaking - though I’m sure definitely not) unpretentious cms and really there’s nothing wrong with that, what it does, it does well imho.

Dan,

I’m sure a screen-cast would be popular as it gets frequently mentioned on FreewayTalk. Two areas that would be worth discussing are tweaks to the config.php file and the styles.css file
