[Pro] Spaces between paragraphs in HTML box

I’ve got a story I want to have in a scrolling textbox. I can’t figure out how to put spaces between paragraphs to make the text more readable.

Thanks for any help!

Select your text and chooses Style>Space After (or Space Before) and play with the settings.

I tried that but it only increases the spaces between lines, which I don’t want.

thanks for the suggestion.

You can definitely make it smaller. Try making both 0px and working up from there until you have what you want.

Hi Trinko

Freeway text has a margin set by default that creates space between paragraphs.

I found this solution to give more control in a previous post.

Go to Edit Styles. Select h1. Click the extended tab and input

Name: margin Value: 0px

This will remove the margin from the entire paragraph and can be applied to all the style tags.

If you want to set a custom measurement use for example

 Name: margin Value: 0px 0px 5px 0px

This will apply a margin below the paragraph only.

Hope this helps

I don’t mean to nit-pick, but it is actually The Browser that has a default
for the space between paragraphs (margin-top and margin-bottom) not Freeway
Pro. The only “default” setting for paragraph (or any other text spacing)
in Freeway Pro are for first and last occurrences – e.g., the top or bottom
of a text block.

You can also eliminate the space between paragraphs in Freeway Pro by using
a “soft” return at the end of each paragraph – instead of pressing the
return key, backspace from the next paragraph and hold the Shift Key down
while you press Return.

Best wishes,

Sounds like you have a paragraph return after each line.

Is your page online somewhere so that we can see the underlying code - it may be a construction error rather than styling.

thanks for the help. I did in fact have a return after every line. Don’t know how those got in there. Used BBEdit to remove the unwanted returns and now all works fine.

Thanks!

Just in case you were unaware, if you had turned on ‘Invisibles’ in the ‘View’ menu in Freeway, you could have seen (and removed) them in Freeway without needing an external editor.
