Hi all,
I thought you’d be interested to know that I’ve updated the Spawn New Window Action suite to take on functionality which was requested last week.
The new suite will output an “in window” frame much like you will find on the Softpress tour pages. The page will fade out, and a layered item will appear containing the window. There is a handy close button which will restore the window’s appearance. This will help improve the user’s experience if using an iOSdevice. At the moment, scrolling in this kind of window is not supported - I hope to add it soon once I’ve found a solution to a pithy problem.
Do you know if the scroll bars will be added soon?
Also, would it be possible to place the close button in the right upper corner instead the left upper corner? Most people probably expect the close button in the right upper corner.

Ah - now I remember why scrollbars are disabled in iPad Friendly Mode.
iOS Safari has problems with iFrames, and right now they don’t display properly with scrollbars enabled. The contained page doesn’t get clipped to the iFrame, so you get a right royal mess. Sites that do use scrolling iFrames use custom code to clip the iFrame content. I’ll have to do more digging.

The iOS scrolling iFrames is a problem - from what I have been reading, it’s not easily surmountable. It’s a far more in-depth problem that doesn’t respond to the quick-fixes that I’ve been trying.
I actually suspect that it’s linked to the way in which iOS handles “scrolling” in general, which to be more accurate isn’t scrolling. It may look like it to you and me, but to iOS it’s not scrolling at all. You many want to read my notes on the subject here so you know what I mean: http://www.actionsworld.com/Actions/SpawnNewWindow/ipadfriendly.php
If I find a way to achieve this effect, then I’ll certainly add it to the Action.
