[Pro] Spawn New Window and HTML5

Hi All,

I want to use SNW with the iPad Friendly window option. There seems to be a problem when I use the HTML5 Video action on a movie on the same page. SNW won’t allow the the iPad Friendly window - it reverts to the normal window.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

To follow up my previous post …

I am assuming the HTML5 action on a video on the same page is the ‘interference’ as it worked fine when the HTML5 Action wasnt on the page.

Have you looked at the page in Firebug? The console tab may list some interesting error messages.

Hi Walter,

I’ve looked - but without understanding.

Does it mean not possible to use the SNW iPad Friendly window option with HTML5 on same page?

If you see an error at all, anything in red in the Console tab of Firebug, then you should copy and paste that error message into an e-mail to Paul Dunning and Softpress Support, respectively, for the SNW and HTML5 Video Actions.

If you can post a link to your page online we can have a look for you.

Hi,
the problem is not restricted to my SNW Action. IT seems that the HTML5 Video Action in question is inserting some JQuery code onto the page, and this is killing the Scriptaculous code that my Action, and, I would guess, many others, use.

I have just set up a page with the Target Show/Hide Layer Action and a Rollover Action to show it using the Fade effect, and the same kinds of errors appear that you get with the SNW Action.

Paul also emailed me direct to suggest I inform email@hidden about this and see what they can do to fix the problem. I will do that right now.

Thank you all.

That last post has automatically hidden the address - it is support at soft press.

Thanks again

Has there been an answer for this? I’ve experienced this also using HTML5 Video. Kills pretty much any other java scripts used on the same page.

I’ve just tried that and it doesn’t work either. I think using HTML5 on any page will disable some actions.

HI,
HTML5 tags alone won’t kill the SNW Action. My Actions (and a few others) use the Scriptaculous JavaScript library to achieve certain effects. However, this library can clash with others, such as the JQuery library used by the HTML5 video Action.

I have an alternative HTML5 video Action which I wrote for a presentation I did at the LCC last month. It’s more basic than the Action you are using, but it should work fine with my SNW Action as it has no reliance on any JavaScript libraries.

HTML5 Video

That awesome. I’ll try it out and see what happens. Will report back. Thank you!

Oh when you say basic, what exactly will I lose? I’m already using the current HTML5 action for some of my sites with many videos.
