[Pro] Styling Forms

Hi Guys,

I have built several websites now with Freeway Pro 5 and have always used Forms To Go to build my forms.

I am now wanting to do more and style them better.

I would like to do the following:

  1. Change the colour of the text field. Not the background of the text field but the actual text field.

  2. Not use buttons for the ‘Reset’ & ‘Submit’ buttons. Just use text or a graphic item of a nice font and have that be the reset & submit buttons.

  3. Not use the actual box-y looking thing for the text field. Can it just be a line or a dotted line?

While I am talking about it, when I have text fields and also a text area, the text area always turns out longer than the text field in Internet Explorer. It looks perfect in Firefox & Safari but not Internet Explorer. Is there a way that I can fix this?

Thanks for your help.
Amanda

Hi Amanda you will probably be looking or something lime Mike Brackenridge excellent form style action.
you can find it here

http://www.actionsforge.com/projects/view/39-form-element-styler

This covers most of what you want to do.
As far as submit buttons then any graphic can be made into a submit button just by turning the submit checkbox in the inspector palette when the mage is active

All the best max

I use Form Element CSS heavily. It just seems easier to use, but that may just be personal preference.

Hi again guys,

I am having a bit of a problem with the Form Element CSS action.

I am using an image as the text field and the text box but I always seem to have to have a background color behind it and border around it.

On the action there is the option to choose no background color, no border, border color: none, border width: zero.

But when I preview or publish it has put a default 1px black border around my image and has put a white background behind it.

Do you know how I can fix this or what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks heaps,
Amanda

OK - the browser will always put something in the background until the background image has loaded. What kind of image are you using?

The border is controlled under Border settings. What setting is Border Style? If it’s None, you should not be getting a border.

Form Element Styler

or

Form Element CSS

Which would be the action of choice?

I am using this one:

http://actionsforge.com/projects/view/90-form-element-css

I have tried using both a jpeg and a png that I have made in photoshop and illustrator as the images.

For border style, I have tried them all. Even when I put it to ‘none’ it still shows a border (1px black border).

Thanks,
Amanda
