I have an Imac and a PowerBook. Freeway 5.6 on both. I need to work on the Powerbook over the next week but it is not up to date with regards to the Actions that I use on the iMac.
How can I ensure that both FreeWay apps have the same Actions etc?
If one of your Macs has the “definitive” set of Actions, then you
might try this.
Install Dropbox on both Macs.
Locate your original Actions folder, which will be at /Users/
yourname/Library/Application Support/Freeway 5/Actions and move it
somewhere else, like the Desktop.
On the “master” Mac, move the Actions folder from the Desktop into
the Dropbox folder. After it’s there, make an Alias of it, and move
the Alias back into the Application Support/Freeway 5 folder. Be sure
to rename it back to Actions once you do if Finder named it Actions
alias or something like that.
Once Dropbox synchronizes, you should see an equivalent Actions
folder on your “apprentice” Mac in the Dropbox folder. Make an Alias
of that folder, and move (and rename) it back to the Library/
Application Support/Freeway 5 folder. Leave the original Actions
folder on the Desktop or elsewhere as a backup.
Now you should have a perfectly synched set of Actions, and any time
you make a change to the “master” Mac, those changes will propagate to
the second Mac as soon as Dropbox synchs. I’m not sure what will
happen in the opposite direction, it might actually work that way as
well.
