[Pro] Syncing Freeway at home and work

I’m trying to sync a website between home and work via Dropbox. The Freeway Pro file and all media is in a folder on Dropbox.

The Freeway Pro file gets sync’d OK between locations/Macs but when I upload to my server, I get the “overwrite existing files” warning dialog.

I don’t get this dialog when working from the same location/Mac.

How do you work between two locations? Do you use Dropbox?

Thanks

I guess that you have to take care using the same user name setting on both MAC. Freeway is, as far as I know, using the path when comparing the version of the files.

Hi richard this thread describes the set up but it does sound like you have it set up correctly

http://freewaytalk.net/thread/view/130902#m_130928

I always use an ftp program to upload to a server so have never come across what you have described so unfortunately I say either way if thesis normal or not.

but just check you have done everything correctly first like importing from all assets from within dropbox and not from your own mac
kind regards max

Yes, it’s strange since I have a single Freeway folder in Dropbox that is shared by both computers.

I can work on one all day but when I go to upload any changes on the other, it always says

“One or more files that do not belong to this site will be overwritten”

And every single file has a dot next to it and is overwritten.

I’m sharing the same Freeway file, media, pages, etc.

Something is just not syncing properly.

You use an ftp client instead of Freeway? That’s an interesting idea. Can I just manually upload the pages that I change?

Are both of the computers editing this document in the same time zone? Are they both using synchronized clocks (System Preferences / Date and Time / Use time server:)

Also, in the case of editing on the second computer, did you completely save and close the document of the first machine before opening it up on the second?

One last thing to check, is your username (short and long name) exactly the same on both computers?
