Now here’s a new problem. I set up my Exhibio2 page fine, export to Freeway, and upload … and a page of text appears! I really did want some pretty photos … .

Did you use the Exhibeo 2 action - not the original Exhibeo one.

In Exhibeo2 under the Help menu there is an Install Freeway Action for Exhibeo

Once you have done that then make sure you use the correct import action in FW ie Exhibeo 2 Import.

Also note there is an update of Exhibeo to 2.0.3
