[Pro] Text version of an action

Hi

Looking at http://www.freewayactions.com/product.php?id=031 (the page for “Add Meta Tags”) it says that you can edit a text version of the action.

Would someone please explain to me how to do this. Loading the “Add Meta Tags” action into a text editor is not the answer, so how can I get access to a text version?

Quote “Description:
This old (Freeway 2) action allows you to quickly add common meta data to your pages without having to enter them on by one in the meta tags dialog box.
Freeway Pro tip: For maximum productivity open the plain text version of the action and change the default values to suit your project. You can now simply apply and forget the action.”

Thanks
John

Hi John,
I can do that! :slight_smile:

  1. Download the Action archive from the site(http://www.freewayactions.com/product.php?id=031)
  2. Unzip the archive if you need to
  3. Open The ‘Add MetaTags.act3’ file inside the Frereway 3 Pro folder in any good plain text editor. I use TextWrangler - Bare Bones Software | TextWrangler is now BBEdit -- and still free! It's time to switch.
  4. You can now start adding your own default values. For example;

    may become

Save the Action and you should be set.
Regards,
Tim.

Actually, that is the answer. Actions are simple plain-text files (mostly, except for the ones that are bundles) and you can just edit them in a programmer’s text editor.
