A year or two ago, I created a very simple website, which is basically just a central location where folk can read or download pdfs relevant to a project I have. There is also a tiny sister website of stories and poems (which is far more recent).
As I have added pdfs to be downloaded and generally tinkered with the site, the number of files uploaded with each revision (always very minor) grows and grows and grows. These two simple sites started out with under 100 elements that were uploaded, but just now after a recent revision it has uploaded at least 350.
This is ridiculous and obviously many of those files are redundant.
Is there any SAFE way of sorting out what is needed and what is now redundant and deleting or the crap? I’d appreciated good advice. My motto is always ‘in in doubt, do nowt’, but IF there’s something I can do, I’ll do it. Thanks.
Freeway shouldn’t upload any files that aren’t actually being used, although it does sometimes create duplicate files within the local Site folder.
If you think that has happened, a safe way to deal with this is to publish into a new empty Site folder. You can choose a new Site folder in the Document setup dialog.
Alternatively, create a zip archive of your current Site folder (so you can’t lose anything), then select everything that is in it and move it to the Trash.
