[Pro] upgrade freeway pro?

Hi, anyone knows if there are plans to upgrade freeway pro? You already have a lot of time with the same version and nothing innovative.

A lot of time with the same version?

About 2 years between FW5 and FW5.5
About 4 Years between FW5.5 and FW6

FW6 was released about 16 months ago … and that was certainly a good release, it paved the path for the near feature after FW5.5 got kind of stuck.

What is the innovation you are looking for?

Some cool web design trends have emerged the last years. As a designer who is not into code I feel a bit left behind. As much as I love to work with Freeway I am now in search for alternatives that let me do the cool stuff I see around the web. Although I absolutely dislike Adobe’s subscription scheme I now go with Muse, that is meanwhile a designers dream come true. I will stay with it until the competition comes up with an alternative without the subscription ties. Maybe it will be from Softpress…

Design trends come and go, it’s up to you what effort you want to put into it in order to earn the title of web designer. But -and that’s the power of Freeway- with some DTP knowledge the step is easily made. But it ain’t iWeb. You can do a lot in Express. You can do a lot more in Pro. Whit some proper knowledge of CSS, HTML and more you can do a lot of those ‘cool web trends’ you refer to. The innovation is there, there will be more in time I’m sure. I and other have a lot of things done using Freeway, like parallax scrolling. I understand HTML, I understand CSS, I partially understand JS, but that’s it. The rest is pure trial and error, and a lot of common sense. Not forget to mention the Freeway community.

Software Applications are written with a decent intention of philosophy behind. If one got the feeling not to be able to deal with it, it’s better (for both) to change to a product which might fit better.

But the real gist is, that there is a difference between good websites and great websites - and this is independent of software apps in use, it might be even independent of “code knowledge” behind. It’s about the understanding that Web Design isn’t needed anymore and substituted by FrontEnd Developing.

FrontEnd Development is work and craftsmanship (Dan Cederholm). Those that once understood these principles won’t scrutinize their app in use (or at least less common).

Cheers

Do not mistake me, I love freeway. what I mean by lack of innovation is compared to other web development programs that have “amenities” are hard-coded.

My wish is that the same freeway had more internal modules for more sophisticated effects without using much code. I’m not a programmer, but I really like the web design and my level “no expert programmer” I wish I had “more things” without much code.

I know there are many actions, but I feel that many are already in the past with everything in a web now.

And I say again, I really like freeway and agree to what Thomas says that the best application is the one that best suits your taste.

Sorry mi english. Cheers.
