[Pro] Upload file copy to my Mac

Help! I have created an Upload folder on my desktop for the web site files. When I click to upload file copy and point to the folder I created, the website files cover my desktop and don’t go in the folder?

What version of FW are you using? Works fine for me in 7

What setting are you using in FW’s File>Document Setup under the Output Tab - specifically for Resources.

I use Separate Resource Folders and have no issues.

If your problem persists why not create a sub folder in your Desktop folder and do your File Copy into that.

Are you using this workflow because you use an independent FTP app to upload? If so then why not just FTP the contents of your Site Folder.

Or are you doing this for a different reason?

Personally I am perfectly happy with FW’s built-in FTP capabilities and use it exclusively for FW generated html files and Resources. If I am using large add on files like videos in a FW site then I will use external references and FTP them independently to avoid the big upload delay if FW suddenly decides that all your videos should be updated.

And of course FTP to add external JS files etc.

Hi David

I did what you said and created a folder within a folder on the desktop. The files did go in that folder and also a copy all over my desktop still?

This is a tricky one without seeing your actual FW doc. I can only suggest that you send an email to support(at)softpress.com

They may ask you to email your FW doc to them (using a File Sending service like Walter’s Fling if it is over 20Mb)

Just another thought on this

What have you set up as the Local Site folder for this Doc

Look in File>Document Setup under the 1st Tab (Document)

Half way down there is a Select button - just make sure that you dont have your Desktop selected as your Site Folder
