[Pro] Upload problems

Hi Panel. I raised this problem earlier, but received no response. My latest website has some 800 files and takes a long time to upload. That’s fine, except that if the upload is interrupted, I have to start the whole process over again. I can actually upload all the files from the Site Folder using Fetch, so the files are ‘up’ and viewable online. But it would be useful to have the Freeway Upload functioning so that there is an easy way of updating the odd file within Freeway. Is there any way to ‘Freeway upload’ the files in smaller bundles say, so that the program registers that they don’t need uploading again? Thanks, Paul

… which upload mode did you try?

I only trust (and ever will) in “PASSIVE” and it never failed (except of server-side issues) - even with huge pages and lot of files.

Cheers

Thanks for responding so quickly Thomas. I’ don’t understand your question though. What is ‘passive’? I use the menu option SFTP (SSH File Transfer), which I assume was recommended to me years back.
Cheers,

… hmm - never tried, I usually do the “FTP” upload mode. I know nothing about the rest - never tested.

OK Thomas, I’ll try that. Thanks! Paul

I use the menu option SFTP (SSH File Transfer),

My understanding is that SFTP being a Secure file Transfer Protocol is far more picky about your connection and as a result is more likely to give you errors if something is not 100%

Try straightforward FTP (as Thomas suggests) unless you are particularly worried about your Transfer being intercepted. But why would you be - you are posting online for all the World to see after all.

Well, I have now tried SFTP, FTP (passive) and FTP (non-passive) all without success. After a seemingly random number of files being uploaded I get (for SFTP) 'cannot complete upload because of a network error [Upload failed: ssh error (-1/-41)] ', or (for FTP) ‘Cannot complete upload because an error occurred while receiving network data [-26344:625:1220]’. I don’t think this is a Freeway problem, and as I mentioned before, the files upload fine using Fetch (why?!!). But it would be good if Freeway noted the successfully uploaded files so that it didn’t try to upload them again! It is rather disappointing … Cheers, Paul

It does - after a successful upload.
