I have iPage to host my domain… I have never been able to get the FTP to work properly, but do dream of the day I make a change and it gets pushed to the website without manually uploading each newly modified document one by one which is how I do it now… Very frustrating.
Any advice? I have tried a few different ways… ftp.page.com, ftp.mydomain.com, the correct port, passive and non passive, etc.
I get errors saying “Unable to build data connection”… I can use Cyberduck and connect fine. Cyberduck however has also flaked out on me recently so besides connecting to it, uploading is useless.
Have you tried the straightforward www.yoursite.com with whatever Directory iPage specifies ie www or public_html or http_docs (there are many possible options)
Ipage is a whole template base in its self. They probably have a built in uploader. and where ipage hosts - you can switch from ipage to another format… FYI
I use transmit.

How did you upload? My client is using ipage as well, and i may need to upload through ftp
iPage has a built in uploader, but you can only grab one a a time which is painful.
What finally ended up working, which is an improvement from the last Freeway because I definitely had tried it and it didn’t work, was just “FTP” upload, set it to Passive, and that was it. Used ftp.domain.com and the correct port and it works each time now. I must have spent 15 hours at minimum uploading files over the past year. It’s crazy to think it’s done in a minute now and when I update, it knows which files are already there and only updates those missing.
