[Pro] videos

Hey all ok here is a question. I am making a page with 3 videos. I do not like scrolling the window and the videos do not fit on a page. I tried a scrolling layer but the content won’t take more than 1 video ( or maybe I am doing it wrong…

any solution to this?

I could make another page but I would like all 3 to fit on 1 page
Thanks

Try using 3 static images linked to ScriptyLightbox popups.

Ok well success on the scriptylightbox2 installed and worked fine but the larger video placement on page is too high up
Is there a way to adjust placement of video on page?

and 1 more question. previously I was using You tube or Vimeo action for fast loading time. By using Scripty action. and having to install the mp4 video will this take forever to load and would the simper solution be to go back to Vimeo acton and put one video on a page and go from page to page that way. It is very quick and seamless

Thanks so much for your input

No Dave in Scripty 2 one can only import original file on computer. no URL to youtube or anything like that.

I think my best bet not to have loading time is to put one video on each page. I have done this loads of time. I just wanted people to see all 3 videos on 1 page - no loading time

The video player should center on the available screen area, taking
into account any scrolling you may have done in a taller page. Be sure
to use a movie size that will actually fit into your HTML page, so the
controls to close the box are not moved off screen.

If you have properly compressed your video file, it should be every
bit as quick to load and play as anything on Vimeo. The only time
where one of those services would save you time is in the site
uploading, since you don’t have to wait for the entire video file to
make it up to your server. (You do, but you’re waiting for it to
upload to Vimeo or YouTube, rather than to your Web server.)

Video is video, and Flash video is actually the same thing as
QuickTime or MPEG 4 format. At any given quality level and pixel
dimensions, there is no advantage to a Flash -based presentation over
a QuickTime-based presentation. Vimeo and YouTube will compress the
hell out of the video, maybe double-compressing it in the process,
since you were a good citizen and exported it in a compressed format
already. Double-compression makes type and logos look incredibly bad,
so it’s easy to spot.

I would argue that the percentage of computer users who have the
QuickTime framework installed are quite a lot higher than many would
believe, due in no small measure to the incredible adoption rate of
the iPod and iPhone. Every PC-hugging anti-Mac protester who sports
white ear-buds is probably not even aware that they have the whole
QuickTime thing ready to go, and will be pleasantly surprised when it
Just Works™.

There is no loading time on the site until you click the icon for the
video. ScriptyLightbox2 (Scripty2 is actually a different project, the
next generation of the Scriptaculous framework, so please don’t get
those confused) is just like ScriptyLightbox in that it only loads the
movie or large photo when you click the icon, not when the page loads.

You may be confusing the fact that all of the movies you’ve placed on
the page have to upload when you upload that page to your server –
that’s just a natural consequence of how the Action works – it
uploads so you don’t have to do that separately.

Thanks Walter

no I meant that once someone plays the movie it would take a little time to load from my files. I would prefer the quick You tube/Vimeo option

Thanks for responding all

Then you need to work on your compression. There are dedicated
applications for this, like Sorenson Squeeze, and you can get a lot
out of QuickTIme Pro, too, if you know where to tweak it. Be sure to
set your movie to quick start (which moves the file size and format
headers to the beginning of the file so the plug-in can “chase play”
the movie as soon as there’s enough file downloaded to buffer the rest
of the playback. And experiment with lower frame rates and lower
dimensions. You can get quite an improvement out of compressing to 320
x 240 but playing back at 640 x 480. That’s what’s on my demo page for
the Action.

Walter
sorry maybe there is a miscommunication here. My fault
I have not been able to load Scriptylightbox on my Freeway…at all

Last week was a bit of a rough patch and for some reason that action will not load. There is a thread detailing my drama, so I ditched the idea of using it.
Thanks
