[Pro] Website File Organization?

OK Keith. I’ll give up on trying to make my Resources folder tidy – even though it goes against the grain!

Yes, I know about MobileMe. I’m hanging on, hoping that iCloud might come good in time. I did have a look at A4 hosting. I have about 35 sites, so only want to do the change once! I’d be grateful for any ideas.

Thanks for your reply.

Certainly on iCloud
most of the graphics have not been properly named including the main image which is a Gif but should be a jpeg (for better quality)

Are you naming them in the correct place - it should be in the Title box with the graphic selected. And don’t forget the Alt text too - this all helps with SEO.

Thanks Dave. My original files are all jpegs, and I have now found the Freeway setting. (Now I have a Site/Resources folder full of item**.jpeg files!!)

I really appreciate the help I’ve received on this forum. My sincere thanks to all you knowledgable people! In fact, I don’t regard myself as an inexperienced ‘webmaster’, but I have found my recent switch from Adobe GoLive to Freeway quite demanding. The philosophies are quite different.

So, thank you all!

This is where you should be changing it

Ah yes Dave, but as you see, for this file it has been changed there. However in the Site/resources folded this file now appears as item2o.jpeg, even after doing ‘Publish Site’ again.

First, remember that it really doesn’t make any difference, apart from a very small influence on SEO. Also, remember that you generally leave the site folder alone. Put it down, step away from it… that’s Freeway’s responsibility, and it can be left to it.

Now, if you want to be sure that you’re just dealing with items that really do belong to the current iteration of the site, you could go into the Site folder (I know… but just this once, ok?) and bin everything there. Now go back to your Freeway document and publish again. Is that rogue file there again? If it is, then something in your layut is producing it. Perhaps it is something else, not what you think it is?

OK Keith, thanks for persevering. I get it now. I need to label the photo-holder (target); the pix then get labelled under that.

Sorry to be a nark, but I like to understand things!!
Cheers,
