[Pro] WebYep automatic slideshow

Has anyone made a carousel style slideshow with web yep in FWP and if you have could you give me any pointers? I was going to try Perch for this but I don’t have time to learn its intricacies at the moment and Pulse doesn’t give me the loop functionality I need.

Hello Simon, I have been looking to extend webyep with such a setup also. Did you manage to do much of this from within Freeway or was there much by way of extra coding to be done?

Thanks for any input

From memory it was just cutting and pasting to the relevant places. Just follow the article I’ve linked to.

Hello again Simon, Many thanks for that. A
I got there in the end but as ever I am trying to refine things a bit.
Would you happen to know how to change the slide numbers under the main slide window to small graphics which will still have the hover/active states. So rather than having the numerals it would be small image to show how many slides there are?

Have you got an online example I/we can look at?

Indeed I have.
This is where I have set it up.

Its the panel with the AGM notice in it.
Its a useful feature. The website in question is one I am currently modifying, especially the front page.
I was just looking to have a small icon/image instead of the numbers beneath the images.

I can’t see an AGM notice

There appears to be a plugin missing from some browsers.
I have the same issue with Camino though things work ok in the version of Safari I have. This is one of the fixes I am currently trying to resolve.
May I ask which browser you are using?

There appeared to be an issue with the link you had posted there. It appeared and then gave me an error message.

Safari 6.08

Thanks.
It works in the older version of Safari I have 5.06.
I’m not too sure what the issue is. I reckon its maybe a java script issue but I’ll need to do a bit of digging to try to resolve this.

I am somewhat restricted in the browser I can use as I am still clunking animal bones off rocks with my near prehistoric Powermac G5!

Just checked also that the web yep slideshow functions on iPads and iPhones.

But does your Flash carousel? - Nope!

Thanks Dave, Indeed it does not. I have been looking for a non flash alternative. Any suggestions to achieve the same effect?
I am hoping to be flash free as soon as possible.

I have also checked the webyep slideshow in a few other powerpc friendly browsers with varying results.
It works in Safari (5.06) and iCab (Though resizing occurs), but not in all the Firefox derivatives such as tenfourfox, Aurora.
I guess I need to understand what the difference is in these browsers where some work ok and others don’t. A bit of research required.
Either that or find the money to upgrade to an intel machine!

So I thought I’d just change the slideshow to a carousel which at least is less reliant on plugins and fairly browser independent.

I made the change and checked it.
Again the browser disparity.
iCab and Safari render the page fine but firefox/mozilla derivatives appear to knock the carousel panel about 100 pixels out of position. The direction of this deviation from where it should be is dependent on whether the horizontal or vertical direction are used for the movement effect.

Can anyone shed any light on this at all?
Its one of those five minute jobs thats taken me too many hours.

I’d really appreciate anyone that can assist or explain whats happening either regards the plugins or the carousel placement issue.

Bit of an update.
Somewhat having to regress my idea on this feature which I had hoped to be able to offer to the group I’m doing this website for.
I had hoped that they could load up their own notices of up and coming events using WebYep with a slideshow.

I am now back to just using the Carousel action after the Carousel 2 Action appeared to be inconsistent across the browsers I tested it in.

I would like to use the features of webyep but need to understand what the issue is with the plugins thats not allowing it to function in some browsers.

The fall back of Carousel 2 Action with its added functions is does not appear to sit where it should on the page in some browsers.

I came across this issue before:
http://freewaytalk.net/thread/view/124828#m_124828

Still unresolved and again I had to use another action altogether to achieve a satisfactory outcome.

Although it is important to have this functioning in the latest browsers, not every user actually has the most up to date versions.

While I’m on is there a problem with the Action Forge website? I’ve been trying to connect all morning.

My DNS provider is under attack, this seems resolved here at the moment.

Things appear to be back and working now. Great.

I have also discovered that the Carousel action had been upgraded from 0.1.1 to 0.1.11,
Just wondering what the change was at all?
Whatever it was then the issue I was, and have been, having with this in terms of the position on the page appear to have some how been rectified and the main Carousel 2 panel sits where it should be on the page in all the browsers I have tested it on.
An issue resolved which I am very grateful for. Please let me know what the change was so that I can try to understand how it is that the action now appears to work for me.

Now to try to find a resolution to the plugins issue affecting the webyep/slideshow issue!

Many thanks Walter.
