[Pro] Webyep Loop + Facebook Action

I’m curious if anyone has used or gotten these two actions to function together. Ideally, I’d like to add a Facebook Like or Comment within a loop. So as my client adds a new blog or news entry, readers have the ability to share it. By default, Freeway will not let you publish a Facebook action if the page has a .php extension as is needed for webyep. Is this a limitation of Facebook Connect functionality, or can I simply add the code manually to the webyep loop?

If the only limitation is on Facebook’s side, you can get around this very easily by modifying your server so it parses .html pages as if they were .php. This does impose a very slight performance drag on your site, but unless you’re the Webmaster for Yahoo, nobody is likely to notice.

Here’s directions, note that you should try each one in turn, and only use the one that seems to work. Don’t stack them up on top of each other. If your server is not configured to allow you to do this, you will get a 500-series error immediately no matter what you try. If that’s the case, then you’re going to have to ask your hosting provider to make this change for you.

Hi Cory
I am already on the case with this request from someone else who has also requested it.
I am nearly there in creating adapted facebook buttons but I still need to iron out some issues, so please if you can bear with me.

All the best Max

That’s awesome. I’ll hold off on the server change then for now. Thank you both for solutions.

Hi Cory
I have finally got the blooming thing to work I have to say it wasn’t easy to work out and at times I felt like I was going around in circles… but finally the basic functions are working and everything is done with a few webyep actions.
The example page below shows a webyep loop with some read more links for each blog post and both the read more pages or the main blog page will post the article to your face book wall. Now I have created the new actions and I have the whole thing working, all I have to do is add some extra bits like the image and a few extra advised requirements and viola it’s finished. To test the example on your facebook wall just click on the link below, it could do with people to text it so if you could it would be handy
Please note this constructed webyep blog wont need any adjustments to your server plus you can design the pages and articles in any way you want.

Hi Richard its all done with 2 new webyep actions (which will be part of the new webyep 3.2 action suite) and a standard webyep loop.
I am still writing the manuel for this but in the meantime I will send you a version of the actions
All the best max
