[Pro] White bg around target images

Hi All,
I’ve made a thumbnail & Target image gallery where you roll over a thumb and a target shows on the page. All the targets are different sizes and when a smaller one is showing there’s a big white background around it that’s the size of the ‘holding’ box (made when you group 'em) even though it’s bg is set to none?

Any idea how I can make it transparent? (Other than going through the resources folder and deleting the while edges from all the images)

Thanks

Two different ways to do this. One, use a background color on the
images to match the background of the page. This will let you keep
them as JPEG images for greater backward-compatibility with IE. The
other is to make them 24-bit PNG images. Both of these options are set
in the Output tab of the Inspector while the image is selected. PNG
images are generally larger (often a lot larger) than their JPEG
equivalents, so you might want to explore that first option before the
other.

Thanks Walter,

Neither of those ideas will work for me. The bg has an image in it that floats behind the targets, so I can’t make their bg’s the same colour. PNG’s are just way too huge to work.

Hmmm. I tried cropping out all the white side panels in photoshop, which took ages, only to find that freeway expanded them all to fit the original area, stretching them badly.
Back to the drawing board again…

Did you try 8-bit PNG or GIF images? They have transparency also,
although you do have to choose one color for the anti-aliasing fringe
around the edges, rather than having PNG-24’s lovely alpha channel.
