I’m using the same header image for all of my web pages, so why, when I look in my Site Folder > Resources there are 11 different headers? This seems like it’s really inefficient.
In contrast, even though I’m using a tiled background image for multiple pages, only one copy of image is stored in the same folder. That leads me to believe that once that image is loaded any subsequent pages the user visits will load much faster as a result.
Freeway is generally really efficient at keeping only what it needs for your site. Often what appear to be multiple images can be put down to slight variations in the image quality, format or how the image is sliced in the design. Check the settings for each image and see if they vary at all.
If you import the image as a passthrough graphic Freeway won’t modify it at all and will simply use it as it stands.
Can you share a URL of your site so we can see why this may be happening?

Tim.

That’s odd. I can see the eleven header graphics (from header.gif to headerj.gif) but without looking closely at your Freeway file I can’t imagine why the application would want to duplicate these files. If you can try swapping these out for a pass-though image.

I tried making a pass-through image which was exactly 960 x 120 pixels, which is the dimension of my header, but when I place the image in Freeway Pro it just shows a green box with a large X going through it, even when I click on the “Fit Box to Content” option the large green X remains.
The ONLY way I can get the pass-through graphic to work is to increase the graphic box size to 1 pixel wider and taller than the actual image. What’s up with that?
I’m not sure as any padding on the object would increase the size by at least 2 pixels. I’ve just tried importing one of those header images into freeway here and it comes in at exactly 960px x 120px as expected. Create a new page and see if you can do it there. I suspect there is something in your design that is causing an issue.

Tim, it had something to do with the fact that I had a Map Area contained within the header. Unfortunately, I had to simply link the whole header to the home page, but I’d much rather use a map so I can isolate the logo. Any ideas on how I can make that work?
