[Pro] Why is "undefined" showing in background?

So I’m slowly working my way through a website, this time experimenting only on the home page with relative page layout. It appears to be working, with one obvious problem that I can see: On the left in the teal browser background the word “undefined” appears toward the top for no apparent reason. I certainly didn’t add that word to the pasteboard.

Any reason for this? How do I get rid of that?

Thanks!

Laura

Hi Laura,

This is a bug that we’ve found and fixed internally. A workaround for now is to set the page to HTML5.

Apologies.

Will turning the page into HTML 5 allow it work gracefully with the original iPad 1 version? I ask because that’s what my boss uses to look at web pages.

Also, Joe, will the slideshow in Exhibio work with both HTML 5 AND relative page layout?

One thing to realize here is that HTML5 is a superset of HTML + extra elements. It’s designed to be backwards-compatible with ALL browsers, even creaky-old ones like IE 8. MobileSafari has been HTML5-ready since there was such a thing as HTML5. You shouldn’t have any problems viewing the site on that browser, even older versions of it.

It can be worth it to download (free) Xcode from App Store. It’s a big
download, and just a little technical, but it comes with an iPad emulator
that lets you test your pages locally on a virtual iPad (and iPhone). After
it’s installed, look for and launch iOS Simulator, choose iPad from the
device menu, launch Safari on the virtual iPad, then drag the url from your
browser onto mobile Safari and the site will load with all the links
clickable. (remember, you have to drag the iPad page to scroll - the mouse
is like your finger).

Best,

Thanks, Walter for upping my learning curve on the HTML5 setting. And thank you as well, Ernie. I know from my second-generation iPad that it looks fine (other than that word), and looks lousy on my iPhone 4S. I’m not too concerned with the phone for this particular audience.

But what about that Exhibio slideshow thing? I know you haven’t used in, Ernie, but I recall on some thread there being issues with SOME of the options in reflexive layout. Joe? Your thoughts on this question?

Exhibio DID work great on the last site I made at http://www.regentsparkboca.com. That site was not made with RPL.

Hi Laura,

Exhibeo and RPL work fine together. Any issues, let me know and we’ll get you fixed up.

Thank you, Joe. I’m awaiting photos from a professional shoot last week, and then I can really dig in.
