I have read the document “what’s new in 6.0” and I was wondering what is real benefit from the transition to version 6.0? Can someone please tell me three main reasons why I should migrate?
And one more thing - may I use on the same systems two FW versions (5.5 and 6.0)?
This is one of those questions that is asked and answered quite frequently in the forum. You should spend as much as possible time researching this forum as we discussed very specific strategies for running 5.5 and 6 (now 6.1) together, and logged many helpful observations.
In the meantime, the short answers: the #1 reason IMO to update is so you can continue to get reliable community help. We discover and share new things all the time - for v.6… not so much for 5.5. So read up on what most of us have already experienced, PLAN your update strategy (e.g., 5.5 for existing sites while learning 6.6 on new projects) then carry out your plan.
Freeway Pro 6 is more like a web design program than I’ve ever seen it, and that is good because the web today IS mainstream. FWP needs to grow and stay relevant, and so do we as users. Keeping up with the little changes now will be a lot easier than trying to catch up all at once later.
It depends the kind of user you are, I think. If you’re a hobbyist who built a site to promote whatever your fascination is, stay with 5.5. Why go further than that? But if your goal is to go further than that, and you want to have the control over the process, then why are you delaying? It’s the 21st century already!
