[Pro] WOW Slider?

I noticed some people using WOW Slider. How do you include that in a FWP site?

I’m thinking one of these WOW Slider templates may be a good temporary solution for Scripty Fader until that Action is updated–provided it’s not too hard to implement.

You will need to pay for the application that generates the slider code unless you want to use it with the Wow watermark, there are 3 pricing options for the watermark free version (I think it starts at about $37 as far as I can remember):

You can then upload the data and engine folders to your hosting account, add the code that includes the files and then add the code that shows the slider, this can be all copied from the html page the preview of you slider is shown on, this is output by the Wow app.

I would consider this to be a solution for a jquery slider rather than a temporary solution for anything else.

The app can create various sliders which you can set throughout the setting up process, I have found some of the options to be a little limited but you can then delve into the code afterwards and edit it to suit the options the app does not offer, support from the developers is outstanding in my experiance.

Hi RavenManiac

I’ve used WOW Slider on a couple of pages if it helps. I’m generally using things ‘as is’ just now but I’m sure many of the files could be edited to change fonts, sizes, etc.

On the home page http://www.DMofT.co.uk/ it is used to display the sets of three photographs with text and links.

On the supporter page http://www.DMofT.co.uk/supporters/ it’s used for the photo slideshows for each of the three supporters.

The application is a bit ‘unusual’ to use and can be prone to losing images should you move/rename them. Other than that it is just a case of adding some code to the head of the page and then more code where you want the slider to appear. You then also need to upload some folders of files to the correct location on your server (usually the same place where your page is). In this case I had hoped I could have used the ‘upload stuff’ action but it only works with files not folders which is disappointing.

If you want to preview the effects in Freeway before uploading everything simply copy the folders WOW Slider creates into the correct location within your site folder on your computer.

I also used their VisualLightBox to create the Gallery pages like this one http://www.DMofT.co.uk/gallery/events2012/ which uses the same basic principle as with WOW Slider. However I keep a note of all the captions in a text file because, once again, it has the habit of losing images upon re-opening if anything has changed.

All the best
