I have activated the licensed version of Xway 1.0.1 and now I experience severe problems with the Exhibeo galleries that I use on my website. The content disappeared and only dots are shown.
When I open a page in Xway, also there now only dots are shown.
This is a very annoying problem that I did not have when I used the beta version of your software!
We haven’t changed anything relating to Exhibeo galleries in Xway 1.0.1.
Typically, this type of problem occurs if you haven’t uploaded the CSS file that is associated with the gallery. That shouldn’t happen if you’re using Xway to upload the site, but it could happen if you use a third-party application to upload selected files.
You could also try reloading the page in your browser, in case it is a browser cache problem.
Do you have a link that we can look at in a browser?
If you’re also seeing this problem in Xway, that might indicate that the gallery component is corrupted. Try re-exporting it from Exhibeo, then re-import it into Xway (using the Replace or Update buttons in the Component section of the Box Inspector).
Thank you for you quick reply.
I have done what you suggest now several times. It then works for a couple of hours/days. Then, for me with no particular reason, the dots appear again in Xway.
Hi Jeremy,
I have earlier today repaired my site again using the suggestion from your second post, which I used already before. It now works again. When it re-appears I will let you know and send you a link to the page.
Hi Jeremy,
A question. You did not change anything in Xway 1.0.1, but did you change anything in Xway 1.0? Like I said, I did not have the problem when I was using the beta versions of Xway.
If you’d like us to investigate this, I think the next step would be to send us a copy of your Xway document along with the exported Exhibeo gallery (xwComponent file).
They’re probably too large for you to email directly, so the best way to send them is to use a file transfer service (such as Dropbox or We Transfer) and send us a download link via support at softpress dot com.
It’s possible that there is something distinctive about your gallery, or about your Xway document. I haven’t seen any problems in my own documents, and we haven’t had any other reports of problems in this area.
I tried to send you the Xway file but it is far too big (4.4 Gb !) for WeTransfer or Dropbox (I only have a free account). Is there another way I can share it with you?
One option might be to upload it to your website (using a third-party upload program such as Cyberduck) and send me a link.
E.g. If you create a temporary folder called “tempxyz” (or any other name) on your website and put a zipped copy of the document there (e.g. “Leblanc.zip”), you could send me a link to “your-domain-name/tempxyz/Leblanc.zip”.
You can also reduce the size of your document by duplicating it and emptying the site folder (choose Empty Site Folder from Xway’s File menu).
I have copied the Xway file and removed a number of webpages, thereafter emptied the site folder, and now the Xway file fits within the WeTransfer limits. I have sent it now via WeTransfer.
I’ve encountered the same problem. I exported and reimported the slideshows from Exhibio several times. It works when testing within Xway and locally, but when uploaded the slideshow either presents all the images across the page (while still rolling through), or blank spaces that don’t link anything.
As my site is about to be rebuilt entirely, I’ve simply removed the Exhibio slideshows for now.
I’m not sure that this is “the same problem”.
If your site works locally, but doesn’t work after it’s been uploaded, that probably means that the associated CSS and/or JavaScript files aren’t being uploaded.
