QT Streaming

Just moved a new client to Dreamhost and am anxious to try their QT Streaming service. Anyone here have experience with this through DH or another host? Curious to know if there’s any noticeable difference in terms of playback vs. embedded video.

Streaming gets you a way to show a movie and not allow the viewer to save it. That’s the primary win. It also can be scaled to zillions more viewers at the same time. But a well-compressed QuickTime movie with normal HTTP chase-play will end up using the same amount of bandwidth, and the user experience will be similar (except for the fact that the viewer can save the file to their own computer if they like).

Well, those 2 points are pretty much the most important considerations for this job. Good to know. Thanks.
