Quick and dirty FORM with Google

A nod to Google Docs for allowing us to hack up a form for Freeway AND capture the data in a spreadsheet with no extra effort.

  1. Get a Google Docs account (free) http://docs.google.com

  2. Click on new>spreadsheet

  3. Call it what you like and save

  4. Go to ‘form’ in the document menubar and create a form in the popup window with your required questions and fields

  5. Save

  6. Go to more>embed. This gives you the code that you can use in an iframe action within your Freeway document.

The beauty of this is that it is fast and all the data collected is put into spreadsheet form directly on your Google Docs account which is easily accessed anywhere.

The drawbacks are that It does not allow for ‘captcha’ or any further styling of the form, but somtimes that doesn’t matter much!

Apologies if this has already been mentioned!

This really IS a good find!

Just in the process of selling this idea to a client. They can generate their own form, send me the code from Google - it can be pasted straight into an html markup item by the way - and they then get to see the results of the form instantly online. Excellent.

Yes and you can also email that form to yourself or elsewhere and it remains live for data capture from within the email- try it out.
