Quicktime or Flash

Could someone help me with the difference between a Flash file and a Quicktime file of the same video for embedding into a Freeway page?

Man, that is a CAN OF WORMs! I have been going in circles for weeks over that. QT can be viewed on iPhones and iPads, don’t know about the others. Flash is very popular but has some detractors - I leave it turned off unless I want to see the animations on my browsers.

I have had much trouble - which can be just about anything - I’m a newbe - with the FLV (for flash vids.) and QT players. FLV would work great for a while then quit, the action would ‘time out’ at Freeway startup and suddenly have Java Script errors which would make me delete and reinstall the vid… My ‘client’ didn’t like the large arrow over her face when the still image would take, and I couldn’t seem to get other controls to work…

Take this all with several grains of salt, remember I could be doing any and everything wrong.

Flash seems to be smaller files than QT, but I could edit QT. On and on. Now there is HTML 5.

So, I finally tried Vimeo last week and wish I had several weeks ago. There is an action, and when the vid is uploaded (www.vimeo.com or something) publicly I think there is one more thing pointing to the web site (good). The player is fast, handsome, great image color. And I no longer am uploading (dirty pages I guess) 20 to 60 meg movies every update.

Good luck in your process!

Frank H.

PS, you can upload either of them to vimeo.

my new vimeo vid is at:

Hi Frank,

That sure does some like some large can of worms;)

With the Vimeo site, if you upload a video to their site
and place the same video on your own website, does it
play quicker/smoother?

There’s also free online sites that convert a Quicktime file
to a FLV file which makes it smaller - have you ever dealt with that?

Have you or anyone ever worked with Easy Web Animator to make Flash files?
