Resetting Google Analytics

Hello everyone,
How would I reset my google analytics?
I screwed it up somehow -it thinks I have more than one index page.
I want it to keep stats for all my pages for my site etc…,
Anyway any ideas on starting over.
I have my U code number available and know where it is.
thanks,
Al

So you want to erase the stats for only the index page but keep the stats for the other pages?

Currently that’s not possible. You’d have to delete the profile (not the account) in GA to completely remove the stats and start over that way.

What’s also been seen as suggested is to leave the current profile and just create a new profile with a new GA code and then you’d still have the stats from the old page (not active, obviously) and then you’d have fresh stats on the new profile. That’d be a way to avoid deleting anything.

I don’t care about keeping any of the stats.
Could I start over with all new stats but not create a new account. I can’t remember what one has to do to create a new account - it has been so long.

Thanks,
Al

There’s a difference between ‘profiles’ and ‘accounts’. An account is your Google account which ties in all your ‘profiles’ that represent each individual website you have being tracked by the service. When you create a ‘profile’ you are essentially creating a thread that will represent a website address that has a unique analytics code tied to it. Accounts don’t track anything, profile’s do.

So in essence you can have multiple ‘profiles’ (web addresses) under a single ‘account’, but you cannot keep multiple ‘profiles’ under multiple ‘accounts’.

I’d suggest, if you don’t care, to delete the profile for that web address and then recreate it with the new analytics code.

To delete the profile you’ll notice at the end of the ‘table’ it says ‘Actions’ and then there is ‘Edit’ and ‘Delete’ and by choosing delete you eliminate that profile under your account. Then you’d just go to “Add Website Profile” (at the bottom) and then go through that to get your new code.
