I’m trying to set up a situation sort of like the tutorial gallery page. But, I want the initial state to have no images showing. Right now, there’s a white box where my images will pop into, but I don’t want to show any box at the beginning.
Is there a way to do that?
Thanks.

Apply the action to this box as well and make sure it is set to initially hidden.

I did that. I think my problem may be that they are on top of other items and maybe I should be using Show/Hide Layer instead of Image?

OK. It all works perfect without Show/Hide Layers (just using Image), but I can’t get rid of the white box.
Technically, there is no white box. Just 4 boxes with images. They are all set to none for the background color.
Where is the white box coming from?

Check in Page view in the site inspector (LH of your screen)
If you have given everything an appropriate name then you may see something that shouldn’t be there.
You can click on it in this left hand pane to select it then delete.
If not then check you haven’t got something on the master that shouldn’t be there.
Is this page online somewhere that we could see it?

No, I don’t have it online yet. At least not that version.
THere’s noting extra on the page or master page. The white box is the same size as my target boxes, so it muct have something to do with that.
I basically followed the same procedure as the tutorial of the Gallery page. The only difference is that I don’t want any image showing in the initial state. In the tut, they have an image showing in the initial state.
The targets are over 4 other graphic items if that makes a difference.

Is it Simon’s Tut you are duplicating? If so did you do this step?
Select the original box by clicking its name (image) in the Site Panel and delete it…
In your FW doc how many Target Boxes are there? Do you have more than the 4 you should have?
Can you upload to a server for us to see - even if you make a subfolder on an existing site and upload it to there.
It cannot be stressed enough that you need server space so that you can test things properly.

OK. I’ve uploaded my site again.
Go here: http://www.rmswp.com/print.html and click on the starfish pic. A pop up window will show you what I mean.

So it looks like you have your 4 base images in a table with your show image layer over the top of that. Is the table a layer? Is the image over the top a layer, set to combine/combine with children?

They are 4 graphic boxes with images one on top of the other. No layers used.
Nothing is combined with children, either.
The whole thing seems odd to me…

Make them all layers not combining and retry

OK.
Do I need the target image action on each one or just any one?

It’s even worse now. I think I’ve really messed it up.
I can’t understand why it’s so difficult.

OK. I got it! You can check the link to see it.
I did need layers, but I know I tried that earlier and it didn’t work. I think I perhaps didn’t make enough layers. I think everything in that area of the page needed to be a layer.

Yes it all needs to be layers so that the images don’t interfere with one another.
I think that if you make the show/hide sticky you wont get the flicker when the images appear and the mouse is over the new image.
Or change the layout so that the new images dont obscure any of the smaller pics. Was it show/hide image or layer that you used in the end?
And remember if the CSS Layout button is engaged then everything that you create will be a layer.

I used show/hide layer.
Yeah, the flickering is a bit weird, eh?
I’ll try the sticky and see if that helps.
