Rollover woes

Please forgive my ignorance, but I am having issues with the simple rollover action. Here is my issue.
When I make a rollover and use either PNG or GIF for the images within the rollover the image quality is poor in the areas with gradations. If I use JPEG for the images, the quality is great, but I get a strange solid color block around the rollover.
Any ideas?
Thanks so much for your time.

strange solid color block around the rollover.

This is likely caused by your anti alias setting for these items

You may have to manually choose the colour to anti alias against if it is set to auto already.

Thanks for the idea.
I didn’t have much success though.

I’ve posted the page with the troubled rollovers

http://homepage.mac.com/miraclemaxdigital/Site/index.html

The issue is in the menu bar.
If you would, please notice the following:

“About Us” button (rollover set to jpeg)

“Home” button (Gif with anti-aliasing set to the red image in the group)

“Contact Us” button (Gif with anti-aliasing set to the green color in the group)

“3” Button (PNG, auto anti-aliasing)

“4”&"5"Buttons (Gif, auto anti-aliasing)

1.) The colored box does not appear when using the PNG or GIF settings, however the gradation of the images is very poor. Especially the hilight on the buttons.

2.) When I set the anti-aliasing settings to a specific color, it doesn’t produce good results because there are images of varying color within the rollover.

3.) Setting the output to jpeg gives great results in image quality, however it also puts the strange colored box around the rollover.

4.) I don’t see a way to change the anti alias setting for the jpeg option.

Thanks again for your time.
