Rollovers and target layers

I’m trying to put together a front page for a site where the main menu buttons trigger target layers to be visible when they are rolled over. I’ve got this going ok.
However something I want to achieve has so far eluded me.
As its layered then I also need the triggered images to be not invisible once the mouse moves off of the menu button.
There will be links in the text within each of the layer items so the layers need to be visible in order for people to be able to click on them when they are visible.

I’ve been trying to make this work but so far have not found the means to get the triggered states to disappear.
What am I missing?

Hello Dave,
Thats basically what I’m looking for.
Can the images which show/hide be layered int top of each other?
I can’t seem to get the rollover to trigger the show/hide. What do I add to the menu buttons to do this?
I thought I knew what I was doing as well!

Hello Dave, Thanks for getting back to me. I’m still on FW pro 5.4.3.

I take it that the show/Hide images can be laid on top of one another?
As of yet I haven’t loaded this page up yet or I’d let you see it but its too messy at the moment with my attempts to get the effect you are showing on your samples.
The files would be a help.

Yes - because they are layers in my example you can stack them whatever way you want.

I will do both those pages in 5.4.3 and provide a DL link on the most recent page shortly.

Thanks very much for this Dave. Thanks for taking the time. It appears to work so smoothly on your examples.
I’ve tried to apply the same settings to my own page but I’m not sure if the way I have my buttons set up is a problem.

I am using a rollover where each button is a group of two images which alternate on the rollover. The setting on the rollover is to restore back to the main style of the button.
At the same time as the images change then the target layer set in the parameters appears. When I have this layer set as sticky then it stays and the other layers are hidden behind the top layer. When I change it to restore it does so but the layer hides when the mouse moves off the button relating to it.
Is there a conflict between the rollover action and the hide/show layer here?

Use the image swop method from the lower example. Ie your normal state is imported into the graphic box and your over state graphic is selected via the action.

This way there is only 1 rollover image on the page.

Thanks Dave.
Not sure what happened but after much jiggery pokery I have got things working. I had spent a bit of time trying to the effect working and was getting a bit frustrated. I was just about to go back to the drawing board when strangely something clicked or should I say rolled over and suddenly it started happening.
I ungrouped one button to begin another attempt and found that for some reason all of the targets worked as I’d wanted.

I can now move on. Many thanks for your input. Its helped tidy up my understanding of another bit of freeway. Cheers
