Rollovers in table

I’ve looked at the manual and the forum, but I am having trouble figuring out how to have a rollover in a table. I can get it to work if I keep the same graphic text, but if I want to have a different color when selected I am stuck.

I tried using a nested graphic item and it works, except that the original text doesn’t show up. When you mouse over the spot the rollover text and layer show up like they should.

I’m sure this is simple, but I am struggling to figure it out.

Thanks.

There are two different ways to construct a rollover. The one most
people see first (nowadays) is the “stack a number of elements, group
them, and add the Rollover Action to the group”.

The original way to do this was “create two images that are exactly
the same dimensions as one another, place one on the page, apply the
Rollover Action to it, and then use the Parameters pane of the Actions
palette (once upon a time, the only view of this Action) to select the
second image in the Rollover picker”. (whew!)

This is the only way to apply a rollover to an inline object (such as
content within a table cell).

I know how to do the second method fine, outside of an inline object. How do I get two graphic items stacked on each other in the table cell? I tried nesting them, but that didn’t allow one of them to show up.

Here’s the step-by-step.

  1. Make your two images, and export one of them to disk. (Item /
    Export.)
  2. Select the first image, apply the Rollover Action to it.
  3. Click in the Actions palette on the Parameters lozenge. In the long
list of options that appears, click on the Rollover picker, and pull
    down to Select…
  4. Locate the image you exported in step 1.
  5. Set any other options – target number, etc.
  6. Preview or publish.

I guess it wasn’t quite so simple. Thanks, everything is working fine.

IF you insert an image into the cell, apply rollover action - look in
parameters(?) - the right hand tab on the action pallet - and select the
mouseover image from there (navigate on your HD) it should work.

I’ve just upgraded a site from 3Pro to 5Pro and this is the only way I have
been able to get any rollover to work - All the gif text rollovers broke in
5. Frustrations and floundering in disbelief.
I tried combine graphics as table objects.
Tried grouping as layers.
Worked around by exporting all the text states to gif and reimporting into
new boxes. (Sigh).

Thanks Walter.

Well, its an old thread, but you just helped me with that. I also thought that the only way to do that was to stack up the images…

Best regards,
