Safari 5 just released

And I can’t wait for the Coda Notes Safari Extension to be released.
Cabel from Panic spoke/demoed it at the WWDC.

Man, those Panic guys are the !@#%.

Is it just me or does anyone else just get the Windows download from
the Safari page at Safari - Apple ?
If I manually swap the user agent to IE 8 then the sniffer in the
iframe on that page offers me a selection of downloads but without it
it just downloads the exe. Odd.

Tim.

Anyone know how the Safari 5 “Reader” (tab in the URL bar) gets triggered from the code point of view?

For example this page triggers the reader: http://informationarchitects.jp/my-five-cents-on-the-thing/

But this page does not: http://informationarchitects.jp/

I was wondering this too as I have a blog that doesn’t trigger the reader.

It seems that pages with large blocks of text in a single container will trigger the reader - unlike the small unrelated blocks in your second link, David.

There must be something (as well) else triggering it, a quick test in Freeway using the same copy from: http://informationarchitects.jp/my-five-cents-on-the-thing/ in a single div did not trigger the reader.

Weird, this page on our site Digital Business Cards triggers the reader, yet the pages next to it, in a similar format don’t.

It doesn’t seem to happen on local files. I just saved the iA page and opened it locally and the reader button didn’t appear.

From a little Googling some people seem to be saying there is a word count plus the need for at least one h tag - though with no official word form Apple it’s all speculation really.
