Scriptaculous Slide show

Hi everyone,
first of all, thanks for the advice and help last time!

Now I have another small request on which I need help. I tried to make a simple automatic fade-in slide show with ten images. I watched the Freeway moments video tutorial and I did exactly what was shown there but for some reason the slide show does not work at all. I have then tried it with the hide-and-show-image-action but the result is not nice. Any ideas?
(I also tried with the showcase gallery but I don’t want to work with it because it has functions I do not want on the page. Just a simple slide show looping.)

Sometimes these simple problems with Freeway challenge my patience with this software.

For any help I would be very thankful.

Target show/hide layer combined with sequence timer - this has custom pause on hover http://www.deltadesign.co/fw_examples/fwactions/sequence-timer.html

Thanks David,
yes, this is how I want my page and slides to be working. But neither the Target hide/show layer action nor the sequence timer action don’t work. May be my actions are too old for this version of Freeway? (Sequence timer 2.8 and Target hide/show layer 2.0.14)

Hi Alex,

one thing out of personal interest:

What in here that’s not doable by Showcase?

OK - the pause on hover event probably, but the rest is exactly what showcase is created for. Or do I miss here something?

Cheers

Thanks Thomas for your interest and help. Showcase surely can do all this, but can I hide the front/back arrows and the thumbnails somehow? I need the slide show for a start page, where I don’t need all this.

And I don’t necessarily need the pause on hover function. I just don’t get why all the actions don’t work at all on my page…

Thanks again
Alex

Have a look at this:

It is one click under Layout → Controls for all non-german based people (so for nearly all the rest). But I’ll teach you - promised

What version of FW are you using Alexander. Those versions - (Sequence timer 2.8 and Target hide/show layer 2.0.14) are what I am using with 5.6.4

Yes, me too. So the version seems not to be the problem

Thanks Thomas, that was helpful, but is there a way to fade the images into each other, not out and then the next… By the way, I do understand german, I’m from Cologne.

If my example is what you are trying to achieve then let me have your email address and I will send you a FW file.

If you are posting your email address to the online forum then use the format email(@)mysite.com - or you could add your email address to your profile on your account page where it can only be read by logged in members.

If my example doesn’t suit then post a link to what you have already (online) explaining what you would like to happen with it.

As far as I know there are no other transitions available but I may fail. But another good opportunity to think about adding some, isn’t it?

The NewsCycle and ScriptyFader Actions both do a cross-fade, I think. At least one of them does.

ahhh … I knew I missed something. Is by the way the SFader meanwhile inline-usable or still layer based and if second, any plans to change?

It’s layer-based, but you can cause it to work inline by drawing the base element over the top of an inline element, as a positioned child of that inline element. That way it has its defined dimensions, and the inline parent can be nearly the same size as it and it will still work.

No, there’s no plans to change the way it works, which is why it has to be a layer.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and help. I found out there must be something wrong with my Freeway file I am working the slide show in. I copied the same pictures in a new file, applied all the actions and it worked. So the problem seems to be somewhere deeply hidden and I will not find the time to solve this. I will try the SFader option, though I still haven’t understood it properly.

But I have another problem more difficult as I expect. One of my websites built in Freeway and with Webyep CMS installed, shows a message at the top of the page. If you still can help me on this, here is where to look at:

How do I renew this?

Hi Alex,

I recommend to drop Max a quick note cause I personal have not any clue what this is. There is apart from that as well a missing stylesheet (sheet1.css). I’m pretty sure that one has nothing to do with the other but it should be fixed as well.

Cheers
