Scripty Lightbox Next Previous images

Hi All

After a bit of digging around I managed to figure out the Scripty Lightbox Action in conjunction with Graphic Link to File Action

Is it possible to use Scripty Lightbox to create those Lightboxes you see online where they have the image and beneath it a bit of text which says Image 1 of 2 or whatever and perhaps some explanatory text and then when you float over the right hand edge of the image a NEXT comes up and you can click through to Image 2 of 2.

Hope that makes sense.

That feature is in the underlying JavaScript library, but it’s
deliberately disabled in the Action because of interface issues. I
hope to add it in a future update, but it’s not that simple (nothing
ever is).

Hi there

As an alternative you could try Weaver’s excellent Lightbox action which includes the next and previous options you are looking for.

You can get it from
http://www.coastalrugs.com/Actions/misc.actions.html

and see it in action at
http://www.plasticvilleusa.org/plasticville/ho-scale/paper/

Hope this helps

Thanks Gordon

I actually have Weaver’s Lightbox Action - but this doesn’t
accommodate Quicktime/Flash etc or any text elements as far as i can
tell - though as you say does incorporate the Next/Previous… I just
might have to rethink what I plan to do - no biggie

Hi Gordon

I’ve just checked out your sample site - how did you incorporate the
text at the bottom of the images that say Image 1 of 2 etc - that’s
just what i need and didn’t think you could do with Weaver’s lightbox

  • or am I missing something… the Quicktime/Flash is less of an
issue as I can just incorporate that in the actual pages

Hi Steve

The ‘image 1 of 2 etc’ text you see is automatically generated by Weaver’s Lightbox action when you have more than one image to display.

You will also see the text link ‘NEXT’ if you pass the mouse over the right-hand edge of the images and ‘PREVIOUS’ when you pass over the left-hand edge or you can simply press N or P with X being used the close the lightbox.

There are two main ways I’ve found of having the option to see more than one image when you click on the thumbnail:

-One thumbnail/many images.

To achieve this add more images in the action window - simply scroll down inside the action window to ‘Additional images’ and then add the extra files (and text). I can’t remember exactly but there is a limit to how many images you can add this way (about 10-12 I think).

I’ve got an example of this at http://www.plasticvilleusa.org/plasticville/ho-scale/individual/indiv-railroad.html where you see the (M) beside the thumbnail for the Railroad Station Paper 2806 (5).

-Link a series of images together

To ‘link’ a series of images together give them a common ‘group’ name in the action. This is the way I have linked the images together in the sample page link I sent before. This way the visitor can see all the thumbnails, click on the one of their choice and then opt to move through the group as well if they want. This saves having to close one image in the group before viewing the next one. Using this method is also a way of getting around the limit set in option 1.

I hope all of this makes sense but please let me know if I can help further.

All the best

Thanks Gordon

i have used the Action on a site with multiple images and got that
sussed but never realised you could add text. Not only have you got
Image 1 of 2 on some of your stuff but also Explanatory text. I will
obviously have to explore further…

Hi Gordon

Just had a quick play and yes I see where I can add captions -
sorted

Thanks again - sometimes you can’t see things when they are staring
you in the face!!!
