Is this a competitor to Hype?
I’ve been having a go at Sencha and it seems a more robust and full-featured option compared to Hype which I’ve tried but not purchased. But for nearly 7 times the price I would expect no less.
Sencha seems to have a good rep in pro circles.

Sencha is considered more a developers tool simply because that is who their primary market is for their other tools. Hype is considered consumer level tool. They both accomplish the same thing basically, but Sencha has more tweakable-programable features.
Flash like games are possible with Sencha, although there is still the audio issue. The one demo game has audio that is not synced but isn’t intended to be either. This is the major flaw of html5 in general.
