show hide and gallery

Hi Folks,

What type of gallery do I need that will work with the Target Show/Hide Layer action that I have in the headers of a site I’m working on ?

I’m also using PulseCMS on the pages but unfortunately their lightbox gallery method (otherwise excellent) conflicts and doesn’t allow for the header images to show. There might be an answer to this ?

It would be good if the gallery was client update-able. Hence being disappointed that the Pulse one doesn’t work.

This was a last minute call from the client - Ugh !

A Good New Year.

You might be better choosing a show/hide option that works with the Pulse Gallery and then the Gallery would be client updatable.

Hi Dave,

Any thoughts on an alternative to Show/Hide that will work in the same way? There are ten images with png graphics overlying.

thanks,

Can you show me your page and tell what is Pulse and what is not.

Hi Dave,

All content apart from the header and footer is Pulse.
www.isleofrum.com/home.php Its up and nearly finished but not public yet.

The inclusion of a gallery was muted early on so I can always play the too bad/too late card. Their undecided were it should be at the moment.

thanks,

When you look at that link with an iPad the page appears just a fraction of the width of the background image. Think of the background fills 100% width of the screen and the page fills 20% of the width. Something is not quite right.

How did you create/position your background image?

Hi David,

How did you create/position your background image?

With the full background action. Not particularly my choice but client wanted a background image.

David,

Try that page again, I’ve taken the minimal scale for the iPhone setting off.

Early stage tweaking to see if it would work with said device, which I don’t have - nor ipad.

So is the header Target show/hide with sequence timer?

And what JS does the Pulse Gallery use?

Hi Dave,

Yes, with sequence timer.

Pulse I think uses Slimbox but as to what type of javascript that is… Something that was slightly behind my post, so many variations of javascript that don’t wish to play with each other.

This is a jquery slideshow (as per what Pulse uses) along the lines of Walter’s ScriptyFader which should do what you want http://www.deltadesign.co/fw_examples/jqueryslideshow.html

BTW Passing your door tomorrow on my way up to Thurso!

Hi Dave,

Walter’s ScriptyFader

Many thanks, that’s the info that will hopefully do the trick.

Hi folks,

Thought I would conclude this thread.

Finally added a jquery fade to header images www.isleofrum.com . In the end I used this: A Simple jQuery Slideshow | Jon Raasch's Blog A handy image fade method in itself to be used sometime elsewhere. Quite a difference compared with target show/hide action I was using - live and learn.

Other jquery options (including the one Dave suggested - no.4) can be found here: 23 jQuery FadeIn and FadeOut Effects Plugins - GeekSucks

All content apart from header and footer on the rum site is with Pulsecms added by two well trained members of the community:-). They decided not to incorporate a pulse (jquery) gallery just yet.

Only downside seems to be that the spawn new window action (website disclaimer) doesn’t work as it did, a conflict perhaps, instead just opening in a new browser window which is fine if not as slick.
