Simple Site Search Helper / Multiple Form problem

Above is the URL for the page which has the search form. The Simple Site Search (SSS) Action wouldn’t work. I saw the threads that noted that the other form I had on the page would cause problems that could be addressed with either the SSS Helper Actions or the Multiple Form Action. I’ve tried each. Neither is working. FYI I had no problem with applying the SSS action on the previous site I worked on that didn’t have other forms.

Attempting to use the SS Helper Action I get a javascript error at the page level: “form.method has no properties” with a little red arrow point to this line of code: fwPage.originalForm.method=form.method.toString();

Attempting to use the Multiple Form Action locally, when I fill in a search term and hit the search button the page simply reloads. Attempting to use the action with files up on the server I get a 404 message. Note that locally my “newsite” FW7 file and resulting site files are completely separate from the FW6 file and resulting site documents, whereas online the newsite folder is one level down from the root site folder of the current site (which does not have a search function).

The Simple Site Search action is applied to the newsite’s root folder and the form’s text entry field. A Simple Search Results box was drawn on a new Search Results page at the same level as the home page and all the other pages.

I applied the SSS Helper Action to the page with the forms, and a SSS Submit Action to the “search” button of the form.

To apply the Multiple Form action I applied a “No Form” action to the page with the forms on it, and a “Multiple Form” action to each of the two forms parent items. In the action’s dialog box it clearly worked to leave the action field blank, as it avoided a “can not find” message. Results were the same with Method set to either “None” or “Get”.

I made sure to remove all formatting for one of these actions when applying the other.

You’ll need to apply the multiple form (page) action, which can be found here:

Sorry, didn’t have my second cup of coffee yet … you already are using that action :slight_smile:

Some more info:

With the Multiple Form action applied the other form works properly.

I removed the other form from the page and SSS worked fine on its own.

I removed the Hype animation from the page and 1) The javascript error with SSS Helper continued to occur. 2) With Multiple Form action /No Form action applied it continued to simply refresh the page when the search is submitted rather than go to the search page.

I know that this is not the solution to your specific problem but on the page where you have more than one form you could create a link to your Search Page where only the SSS form stuff would appear.

If the results are displayed on a different page anyway why not just go there first to enter the search criteria.

This could give you a page specific workround that you wouldn’t need to apply on any of the other pages.
