smooth scroll to anchor alternative?

I am using fading slideshow and transition FX on a page and need to add smooth scroll to anchor. Any alternatives since mootools won’t work?

With Walt’s code I am able to get it to smoothly scroll to the vertical coordinates of each anchor but not to the horizontal coordinates (it’s a wide page). I tried both codes xhtml and html various settings…
Any ideas?

Unfortunately still the same issue of not moving to the horizontal coordinate. Scrolls great to the vertical. Any other ideas?
