I wonder if anyone can help with this
I have constructed a holding page http://www.sunset-designs.com/
The bottom line of text is giving me problems.
- In Page view I have entered three spaces between the two telephone numbers and the email address to differentiate them like so
Telephone: +44 (0)1544 209 Mobile: +44 (0)7974 156 Email: infoatsunset-designsdotcom
However when in Preview view and viewed in any browsers the three spaces are condensed to one and all looks rather cramped. I have tried using tab space with the same result. The only thing that worked was entering white text but this seemed a poor solution esp from an accessibility view.
2. The tail of the g in designs gets clipped in Internet Explorer. Altering/decreasing the leading clips the whole line and more of the line disappears the tighter I try to lead it. All looks fine in Firefox and Safari .
Cheers

Use Option-Space, which is a ‘hard’ space. HTML ignores more than one
‘ordinary’ space.

Web browsers all collapse multiple runs of spaces into a single
space. That’s been core HTML rendering behaviour since the very
beginning. Try option-space (makes a non-breaking space, which is not
actually a regular space character… and so isn’t collapsed. Try
space, options-space, space ,etc…
Gotta run! Meeting to get to.

Thanks very much Paul and Keith
Learning something new every day… I’ll try the different key combos
Still wrestling with the tail on the g though

I have found other areas where Internet Explorer appears to clip the
descenders of text on the last line in a box. I have discovered that
the workaround in these cases is to add an extra line with a (very
useful) hard space. IE then seems to behave itself. I’m previewing in
Net Renderer so am trusting its faithful reproduction of IE layouts.
Thanks again
