I am constantly getting the spinning beach ball when using Xway, particular when trying to preview my site. I am using a Mac Studio M1 with 32 GB ram and a 2TB hard drive.
Anybody else having this problem and how did you fix it

You mentioned in an email that your Xway document is 32 GB in size, which is extremely large!
I would guess that most of that is resources that are embedded within the document. Do you have some very large videos, for example?
Generally, it’s not a good idea to embed large videos because they will make your page slow, even in local previews. They may also slow down autosaving.
There are two alternatives:
- Stream the videos via YouTube or Vimeo or another streaming service. You can add YouTube, Vimeo (etc.) videos to Xway using Insert Iframe from the Toolbar or Insert menu.
- If you don’t want to use a streaming service, upload the videos separately [*] and add them as external resources within Xway (using Insert Resource from the Toolbar or Insert menu).
The second option is what we did with the current (draft) video tutorials, e.g. Xway Video Tutorial, although we plan to make the finished tutorials available via YouTube (first option). We also split these tutorials into shorter videos.
[*] For the tutorial videos, I used Cyberduck to create a “videos” folder, and uploaded the videos there.
Another thing to be aware of, when using videos, is that you may be able to create smaller video files by exporting them from iMovie using the Social Platforms or Export File options.
