strange behaviour

More and more I have a strange behavior on FW 5, HTML 5, no specific webpage: When I insert an element, it doesn’t appear on the net. No matter what kind of an element it is. “Add a code”, jpg, Textboxes… It is strange and I have no idea about the reason. But wait… there is more: when I command-x the missing element in FW and paste it onto an other page (same file), it shows up on the net (on this other page, after uploading of course). Any ideas? Any help?

This sounds like a Browser or server cache issue.

Can you post a link to a page and tell us what appears to be missing and we can look and see if we can see it.

Also try visiting the page using a different Browser - one that you haven’t used before.

Download one if necessary - there are plenty!

If you still cant see changes then ask your Hosting provider about their Server Cache settings.

Thank you David. Used FF and Safari. Both show the same. Look here: http://www.switcher-rapperswil.ch/

On the lower right corner should googlemaps be visible. But it is not… The page is under construction.

Ha! Dave – thanks for whatchin’. It is on me. Or my computer. Since a few weeks I discovered also that firefox doesn’t show all videos on the net. I’ll try to find out, what the reason could be…

Firefox does not support the most widely-used video compression format – H.264 MPEG 4 – because of patent encumberment fears. I did hear that they were planning to introduce support at some point soon, though, as the patent holding group that owns and licenses H.264 has clarified their position further w/r/t browsers. You can support Firefox using one of the many HTML5 Video Actions, though, which use a Flash fallback to play H.264 MP4 when the native platform can’t do that. I have written two Actions, there’s a third I did not write, all available in the ActionsForge if you search on Video.

David… same effect again. On the left side of the purple picture is another jpg-picture. Can you see it?

David, it is the Add Code Action. If I take it out, everything appears suddently.

Duplicate the page in Freeway, remove the Add Code Action from one copy. Publish both, and post the URLs here. Then we can look at a “diff” to see what that Action is doing to make the difference.
