Styles and links getting corrupted in lists and tables

I’ve been having a lot of trouble with styles and links getting put on the wrong items in lists. I made my list first and then put in the links, for just about all of them. But as the pictures show, links got spilled over onto higher items on the lists, and italics and double-underlining got put in where I didn’t want them.

Please see the following screenshots, which pretty much explain the problem:

Any tips on workarounds for these bugs? I love Freeway, in general. I’d wouldn’t have a chance of getting a website together if I had to hand code it and the features such as Navigation Menu work amazingly. For all I know, this could be more of a Web issue than a Freeway issue.

Hi Chris,

It’s usually best to apply any links after you’ve done the styling. This (technical) reason for this is that when you apply a link the entire selection gets a link tag wrapped round it, if you then select a bit of text within the link and apply some text formatting then the link tag gets split and styling gets applied to the individual bits. It’s a little confusing but is really down to Freeway trying to mimic exactly how things work in HTML and CSS (there’s a lot of inheritance in web design meaning the order in which you do things is often important).

Hope this helps,

Joe

Joe,

Thanks very much. I thought it had something to do with my putting in styling afterwards, at least some of the time. I’ll try to remember to do the styling first, and then apply the links.

But I’m still not sure how I can safely add to a list with links in it, so that linked text in a line doesn’t “run over” when I type a return after it. Maybe I have to type a space, make sure there’s no link on it, and then type a return. Seems like a lot of work, but if it works, I’ll do it.
